Frequent bouts of heavy snowfall and frigid temperatures made the winter of 2014-2015 an especially challenging repair season for homeowners, according to HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home emergency repair service plans. During the months of December, January, February and March, HomeServe saw record volumes of customer calls for assistance and numbers of repair jobs delivered for its customers.

Going down as one of the coldest months on record for many regions, the month of February also precipitated a record amount of customer activity for HomeServe. In February alone, HomeServe saw an almost 20 percent increase in jobs performed for customers compared to last February (during the Polar Vortex), and in fact took an emergency call from a customer on average every 30 seconds of every day. For the overall winter season (December – March), HomeServe saved consumers a record $25 million in repair expenses.

February also marked the largest single month of homeowners signing up for a home emergency repair service plan, with HomeServe’s enrollments up 104 percent as compared to February of last year.
