Corporate December 14, 2012 Honda Automoveis do Brasil Reaches 1 Million Vehicles Sold in Brazil

Milestone emphasizes successful history of the company in Brazil since it started to import vehicles to the country in 1992.

December 14, 2012 - 2012 has been a historical year for Honda Automóveis do Brasil (HAB). In the year when it has celebrated 15 years of production and 20 years of presence in the Brazilian market, the company reached in December the historical milestone of 1 million vehicles sold in the country. Although HAB had already reached production of one million units at its plant in Sumaré (SP), some of the units were exported.

The milestone follows several achievements, which started in January, with the launch of the all-new Honda Civic. After the sedan, the line-up renewal was extended to the other models with the launch, in March, of the new generation of Honda CR-V, and followed by the 2013 versions of Honda Fit and Honda City.

After the total renewal of the line-up, HAB has celebrated historical monthly records and in accumulated sales until November has already reached 11% of growth compared to the same period in 2010, until then the best year of the company in Brazil.

In October the company introduced at the São Paulo Motorshow the Fit Twist, the first model developed exclusively for the Brazilian market, which is already being sold in the country.

The company also announced for 2013 the arrival of new 2.0 engine of Honda Civic, and the inclusion of flex technology in the model CR-V and Honda Accord, which will return to Brazil. The event was also the platform for other important announcements such as the arrival in 2014 of sports model Civic Si Coupé and the introduction of Acura brand in Brazil in 2015.

The company also announced  plans to strengthen its R&D structure in Brazil. With the initial investment of R$ 100 million over the next two years, facilities and R&D equipment at HAB will be renovated and a new facility will be built until the end of 2013. The new site aims to optimize the development of products locally, in order to achieve specific demands of the Brazilian customers.

All the accomplishments reflect the excellent acceptance of the brand in Brazil and its compromise, since 1992, with the Brazilian customers and society.
