Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai visits LME

Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai yesterday (Thursday) visited the London Metal Exchange (LME), a member of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) Group, during his current trip to the United Kingdom (UK) for the sixth UK-China Economic and Financial Dialogue.

Vice Premier Ma's delegation and the Economic Secretary to the UK Treasury, Andrea Leadsom, were greeted by HKEx Chief Executive Charles Li, LME Chairman Sir Brian Bender and senior executives of the LME.

At a meeting during Mr Ma's visit, Mr Li gave an introduction of the HKEx group and the LME and their development.

Sir Brian and Mr Li also accompanied Mr Ma and Ms Leadsom to observe the Ring during trading. The Ring is LME's open-outcry trading platform, which is central to the process of price discovery.
