(NYSE:HST) announced today that the company was recognized as a World Leader for corporate action on climate change and achieved a position on the 2015 Climate “A” List and Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) by CDP; achieved Global Sector Leader, Regional Sector Leader and Green Star status in the 2015 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) survey; and received the 2015 Lodging/Resorts Leader in the Light award from the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), the highest achievement for all Lodging/Resorts REITs.

Host is one of 113 “A Listers” on The Climate “A” List by CDP, the international not-for-profit that drives sustainable economies. Approximately 2,000 companies submit annual climate disclosures to CDP for independent assessment against its scoring methodology. Host is among 5% of the companies participating in CDP’s climate change program to be awarded a position on the Climate A List, which recognizes companies for their actions to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change.

Additionally, Host earned a position on CDP’s CDLI, which highlights the company’s high level of transparency and data quality in the disclosure of climate-related information. The reported data has been independently assessed against CDP’s scoring methodology and marked out of 100. Those organizations graded within the top 10% constitute the CDLI. Host achieved a disclosure score of 99 and the highest performance band score of “A” for climate performance assessment. The industry group average was 87/C and the CDP program average was 84/C.

Host was also named Global Sector Leader by GRESB, which recognizes the international top performer within the Hotels sector; and achieved “Green Star” status, the highest possible designation based on score, which recognizes outstanding management and implementation of key sustainability issues. Host was also named Regional Sector Leader, a new status for this year, recognizing the North American top performer within the Hotels sector. Host’s score of 86 out of 100 placed the company 1st within its peer group of 9; 4th within the entire North America region of 155; and 22nd out of 688 global GRESB respondents. The peer average was 53 and the overall GRESB average was 55.

As part of the GRESB survey, Host was recognized by NAREIT as one of the REIT industry’s leading companies in the area of sustainability over the past 12 months and was the co-winner of the 2015 Lodging/Resorts Leader in the Light award, sharing the top spot this year with Hersha Hospitality Trust.  The Leader in the Light Awards are presented to NAREIT member REITs that have implemented superior sustainability programs that have produced significant, measurable results.
