Iberdrola : acknowledged by CDP as global leader in combating climate change

IBERDROLA has been acknowledged by CDP as a global leading company in combating climate change. The company has also been included again in the Climate Performance Leadership index or 'A List' drawn up by this institution and disclosed today in the report Out of the starting blocks: Tracking progress on corporate climate action.

The company also obtained the highest score among the companies analysed in the Iberia region.

CDP, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to boost the development of sustainable economic models, has commended IBERDROLA for its initiatives and strategies in combating climate change.
To draw up its A List, CDP conducted a survey on a total of 827 investors that manage assets worth US$100 billion.

Based on the analysis of their replies, the organisation concluded that there are 193 companies worldwide - including IBERDROLA - that meet the requirements for inclusion in the index, i.e. just 9% of the total number of possible candidates.

CDP also considers that the report presented today reveals how large corporations have already begun the transition towards a low-carbon economy and started harnessing the opportunities provided by this shift. This is the case of IBERDROLA, one of the leading global electric utilities and world leader in wind power, which has undertaken a major commitment to bringing down its polluting emissions: to reduce the intensity of its emissions by 50% by the year 2030 compared to their 2007 levels and to be carbon-neutral by 2050.

In this regard, it should be noted that the company's emissions intensity is already 34% lower than the average for the European electricity sector and that its generation facilities are 66% emissions-free.
