ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI), a leading provider of professional services and technology-based solutions to government and commercial clients, was recently awarded a new single-award task order with the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), National Toxicology Program under the General Services Administration’s One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services (OASIS) indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract. The task order has a value up to $60 million and a term of 10 ½ years, including one base year, nine one-year options and one six-month option.

ICF will provide scientific and technical expertise to help NIEHS manage scientific information and develop literature-based evaluations related to environmental substances and other sources of public health concern. This includes conducting literature-based assessments; reviewing published research to assess the effects of exposure to chemicals and other environmental factors on human health; supporting the extraction, management and visualization of scientific data; and preparing documents, reports and studies for publication.

ICF brings more than 30 years of experience conducting chemical safety and risk assessments for federal clients. Through this work, the firm has developed deep expertise in toxicology and epidemiology; innovative tools, technologies and processes to systematize literature reviews to make them more efficient and transparent; and extensive capabilities in the rapidly growing fields of information science, text analytics and natural language processing.

“ICF is excited to support NIEHS’s efforts to translate the concept of evidence-based medicine into the environmental health science field to better understand the effects of toxic chemicals and other environmental stressors on human health,” said Jennifer Welham, senior vice president for ICF International. “The outcomes of this work will go a long way in helping regulatory agencies and other stakeholders make informed decisions around chemical safety and implement measures designed to protect public health.”
