IDEX ASA will be demonstrating several prototypes implementing its award-winning SmartFinger Filmfingerprint sensor technology at the CARTES in North America Exhibition and Conferences 5-7 March 2012 in Las Vegas.

IDEX will display its partners' latest demonstration products embedding the SmartFinger®technology as well as the SmartFinger Secure Processor software (SSP) and the new Smartfinger evaluation kit.

CARTES in North Americais a new convention  with exhibition and conference, presenting smart technologies to the large and dynamic North American market.
"CARTES North America is the major industry trade show for North America where the decision makers and key suppliers in the smart security industry meet," said Ralph W. Bernstein, CEO of IDEX, and continued "The IDEX team is looking forward to demonstrate various implementations of the SmartFinger created under the cooperation agreements we entered into in 2011, as well as the tools available to our customers and partners."

SmartFinger Secure Processor software
The SmartFinger Secure Processor software (SSP) is a complete embedded authentication software solution to be preinstalled on a microcontroller. The SSP interfaces the fingerprint sensor on one side and the system controller on the other. It does all the processing required to acquire fingerprint images, build and store a small database of enrolled fingers, and match images against the database. This complete embedded biometric authentication solution provides a faster time to market for systems using biometric security.

The SSP software is implemented on a standard Cortex/M3 microcontroller. Communication is encrypted, and there is a choice between various interfaces. The SSP can be delivered with a combined sensor, or as part of a complete biometric module.

Smartfinger Evaluation Kit
The new Smartfinger evaluation kit is available for customers who wish to evaluate the Smartfinger Film fingerprint sensor. The evaluation kit connects to any Windows PC via an USB port and allows for fingerprint enrollment, verification and matching.

SmartFinger Film fingerprint sensor
The patented IDEX SmartFinger Film sensor is an ultra-thin and bendable fingerprint sensor, based on state of the art polymer technology. It has low power consumption and offers superior biometric performance. The SmartFinger Film fingerprint swipe sensor can be easily implemented into a variety of applications requiring biometric authentication such as one-time password devices, smartcards, ID cards, mobile phones, access control devices and biometric tokens. The technology is protected by multiple patent families covering subjects such as sensing principles, sensor component design, image processing algorithms. Combining the extremely small software footprint with low-resource microcontrollers and the thin and bendable form factor, IDEX is able to offer a complete biometric authentication solution tailored specifically for card applications
