Cheltenham Borough Council has endorsed its partnership with Idox following a successful transformation exercise to combine disparate systems and drive efficiencies.

Aiming to work smarter while cutting costs, the Council looked to consolidate its software, coordinating disjointed workflows and transitioning from a siloed approach to a central, end-to-end platform that could improve experiences for both staff and citizens.

The integrated suite of software and services delivered by Idox includes back office solution Uniform - which powers several core service areas from Planning and Building Control to Environmental Health and Licensing - along with the Idox EDRMS and Enterprise solutions for efficient document and workflow management.

Cheltenham's investment in a number of front-end services has also provided the tools needed to empower citizens with 24/7 online access and self-service.

Sanjay Mistry, Programme Manager at Cheltenham Borough Council comments: 'The Idox solution offers something for all our services - it gives us alignment between departments and fewer overheads - less servers, less maintenance, less support required from our ICT services divisions, which was a real benefit for us internally. From the outside, the new technologies deliver a better end-to-end service for our customer base - they'll find they get their service faster and the turnaround time will have been much quicker.'

Extending its Idox contract, the Council is currently looking to enhance its digital technology, rolling out Idox's OnSite apps to enable staff to work on the move.

Sanjay comments: 'We want to empower our officers to do more work in the field. They can provide up-to-date, dynamic information and anything they capture on site is available in the back office straight away via Idox's apps. These are evolving aspirations for us and that's how we want to move forward for the next phase - if Idox carry on like they're doing, there's no reason why we wouldn't entertain any of their solutions.'
