Iliad awarded mobile spectrum in the French Overseas Departments (DOM)

Iliad is delighted with ARCEP's announcement today that it has selected Iliad's application from the bids submitted in the auction for 3G/4G spectrum in the French overseas departments. The Group has been awarded spectrum for all of the territories it applied for (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Reunion Island, Martinique, Mayotte, Saint-Barthelemy and Saint-Martin).

Free has been awarded one of the three blocks of spectrum that were up for auction which includes 4G low frequencies (800 MHz) for all of the territories concerned except French Guiana.

The Group's application for Reunion Island and Mayotte was submitted via the company Telco OI, in which Iliad is a joint shareholder with the Axian group (formerly the Hiridjee group). Telco Ol already operates a 2G/3G mobile network.

Iliad will ensure territorial continuity by providing consumers in these territories with straightforward, innovative and broad offerings at attractive prices, as it already does through Free Mobile in Metropolitan France. The Group will put an end to the totally unjustifiable price discriminations that currently exist between the French overseas departments and Metropolitan France.

The Group plans to invest around €100 million in this project. It will be launching 4G in Reunion Island and Mayotte in the coming months and will start rolling out its network in the other territories without delay.
