Implenia wins major contract in Germany-Administration building with underground parking in Mannheim | Contract volume of EUR 83 million (around CHF 100 million)

Dietlikon/Neu-Isenburg, 15 May 2018-Implenia is carrying out another building construction contract inGermany. The Group is building the "Neue Technische Rathaus" ("New Technical Town Hall") for GBG Mannhei-mer Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH in the Glückstein district of Mannheim, opposite the main train station. The contract volume is EUR 83 million (around CHF 100 million). Construction starts in August, and completion is planned for December 2020.

The job is to build a turnkey local government building with underground parking garage in accordance with plans drawn up by Frankfurt architects Schneider+Schumacher, which came first in the competition for a general planner. The building has a floor area of around 30,000 square meters and space for over 700 employees in anenvironment designed to promote good, accessible service for Mannheim's residents. The transparent complex, with its distinctive two-part tower block, will house local government offices, meeting rooms, a day nursery and a canteen with large kitchen.

Implenia won the contract in part because of its ability to provide a variety of specialist skills: the special groundworks are being done by Foundation Engineering, the experienced building construction branch in Karls-ruhe is lead-managing the project as general contractor, and Implenia Façade Technology is working on the various different façades used on the building shell. Close cooperation with specialist departments including Building Construction Engineering and BIM have resulted in various proposals for cost optimisations.

"We have once again proved that Implenia, acting as 'One Company', with a broad set of skills provided from asingle source, can offer added value that our customers appreciate," says Dr. Matthias Jacob, Head of BusinessUnit Implenia Hochbau Deutschland.
