Hon'ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi today launched the nationwide mass cleanliness drive - 'Swachh Bharat Mission' at Delhi's Rajpath lawns. Speaking on the occasion, the Hon'ble Prime Minister urged the citizens of India to actively contribute to the cleanliness campaign and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi ji's on his 150th birth anniversary in 2019 by making our nation clean. He urged all the country men to collectively work towards realizing the goal of Swachh Bharat and inculcate cleanliness in their daily lives by dedicating two hours a week to cleanliness which would lead to 100 hours in a year.

Being a socially responsible corporate enterprise in India, IndianOil has wholeheartedly committed itself towards the 'Swachh Bharat Mission'. IndianOil operates 10 of India's 22 Refineries in India, operates more than 11,000 Kms of Oil and Gas Pipelines and is the biggest customer facing Organisation of India. Earlier Mr. B. Ashok, Chairman, IndianOil had urged all the 34000 employees of IndianOil through an electronic message to join the Mission wholeheartedly. In an overwhelming response to the Hon'ble Prime Minister's clarion call for Swachh Bharat to realize Gandhi ji's dream of a clean India, IndianOil employees participated in large numbers with great enthusiasm. The launching of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' commenced with floral homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi ji at various installations of IndianOil, retail outlets and locations.

The concept of Swachh Bharat envisages access for every person in India to sanitation facilities including toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal systems, village cleanliness, safe and adequate drinking water supply etc. As part of the 'Swachh Bharat Mission', IndianOil has initiated cleanliness drives at IndianOil offices, Retail Outlets, LPG Distributorships, Kisan Sewa Kendras, Colonies and various neighbouring regions across the length and breadth of the nation. Many IndianOil employees participated in the walkathon at Rajpath Lawns along with others and school students and others for sensitizing people to the cause of cleanliness and generating awareness.

Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas launched the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' at Sishupalgarh Centre Primary School in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. Mr. B Ashok, Chairman, IndianOil, took the 'Swachh Bharat' pledge in IndianOil's Mathura Refinery Township and initiated the cleanliness drive in IndianOil installations at Mathura. Mr. D. Sen, Director (Planning and Business Development) took the 'Swachh Bharat' Pledge with the employees of IndianOil Corporate Office at New Delhi followed by a cleanliness programme at the office, neighbouring retail outlets and its service lane. Mr. M. Nene, Director (Marketing) and other senior colleagues also took up brooms to launch the cleanliness drive in the vicinity of Marketing Division Head Office building in Mumbai. Mr. V.S. Okhde, Director (Pipelines) was in Raipur to launch the 'Swachh Bharat Mission'. Mr. Sanjiv Singh, Director (Refineries) initiated the cleanliness drive at IndianOil's Uttar Pradesh State Office. Administering the 'Swachchta Shapath, Mr. BP Das, ED I/c, R&D Centre launched the cleanliness drive at the IndianOil Research and Development Centre at Faridabad. Chief Vigilance Officer, Mrs. Sanjeevanee Kutty led the mission for scanning of documents and weeding out unwanted files.

Not only the employees of IndianOil, their families and associates have also joined the cleanliness drive. Among various initiatives to encourage the youth to participate in the 'Swachh Bharat Mission', a painting competition is being organized for all age groups at IndianOil Colony at Noida, Uttar Pradesh. On this historic Gandhi Jayanti, the mass movement initiated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, has received an overwhelming response. IndianOil has committed itself for the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' and would contribute wholeheartedly towards making India clean in the near future.
