New Satellite Access Station opens in Russsia

14 June 2016: Morsviazsputnik, the Russian Federation state licensed operator of mobile satellite communication systems, has officially opened a new Satellite Access Station (SAS) in the town of Narynka, near Moscow.

The Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) SAS will improve the quality and ease-of-use of Inmarsat's BGAN services for commercial users in Russia and ensure seamless connectivity throughout the country.

The launch event was extremely well-attended by Inmarsat and high-level Russian government officials, including the Deputy Minister of Transport and Head of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport; the Deputy Minister of Communications; the Head of Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications, as well as the Commercial Director of Intersputnik.
