Insurance Australia : IAG scales up support for customers affected by East Coast Low

The insurer, which operates through NRMA Insurance, Coles Insurance, CGU Insurance and WFI Insurance in the affected areas, has marshaled extra resources and staff to assist in helping more customers following the recent heavy rains and winds.

IAG has also contacted customers in some of the most affected areas to check their safety and offer claims support.

Customers are encouraged to make contact as soon as possible if they need to lodge a claim, access emergency accommodation or request technical property assistance with a verified building specialist.

'Our immediate priority is to assist our customers impacted by the East Coast Low to ensure they receive the right support in their time of need,' said Cheryl Chantry, Executive General Manager of Short Tail Claims for IAG.

'We have initiated our 'All Hands on Deck' program to help rally additional support from across our business. This means we will have extra staff rolling up their sleeves to help our customers.'

IAG also will be mobilising drones to capture aerial imagery of roof damage in the Sydney metro area, enabling the insurer to inspect damage from a safe location and fast-track the claims assessment process.

In January, IAG was the first insurer in Australia to use drones to assess insurance claims following the Wye River bushfires in Victoria.
