The insurer, operates through NRMA Insurance, Coles Insurance, CGU Insurance and WFI Insurance in the affected areas.

'Our thoughts are with the people of Queensland as they face the full force of Cyclone Debbie and we are reiterating to our customers that the priority is to take shelter and stay inside as the cyclone impacts the coastline and moves inland,' Mr Harmer said.

'We are working closely with authorities to help our customers as quickly as possible and we have mobilised our resources to support our customers and the broader community once the cyclone passes.'

Mr Harmer said IAG will be doing everything possible to help its affected customers. 'Our Major Event Rapid Response Vehicles (MERRVs) are ready to be deployed as soon as we can access the affected areas,' he said.

'We have generators on standby, access to emergency accommodation and rapid financial assistance available for customers.

'We have also mobilised our assessors, claims teams and increased our call centre capacity to help customers get back on their feet as quickly as possible.'

IAG partners with the Queensland SES and the Australian Red Cross, and will work closely with both these organisations to assist people affected by Cyclone Debbie.
