Wisconsin Public Service Announces 4th Annual Energy Challenge

Green Bay, WI-Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) is again issuing a challenge to the community non-profit organizations in its customer service area to participate in the fourth annual WPS Energy Challenge.

Up to fifteen selected non-profit community organizations could earn up to $1,500 for their energy conservation efforts, saving energy at members' homes and assisting community members in weatherizing their homes. Non-profits must apply before the August 22, 2014 deadline.

Participating organizations from the WPS service area will undergo a qualifying selection process and be notified by September 3.

To receive the grant, organizations must complete four energy-related tasks. First, install ten home weatherization kits from WPS into ten residences in their community. Second, track group members' energy awareness efforts. Third, ten organization members must pledge to reduce their electric energy consumption during the two months of the challenge (October and November 2014) as compared to the same two months of last year. Fourth, the organization enrolls ten customers for WPS energy related programs or Focus on Energy programs..

Results will be analyzed in December 2014, and the top three organizations that successfully complete the challenge and save the most energy will be awarded a $1,500 grant. A grant of up to $1000 will be awarded to each of the other 12 organizations that complete the challenge. Online information about the WPS Energy Challenge and the application are available at the Wisconsin Public Service website.
