Intel Corporation : McAfee Positioned in the Leaders Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection

McAfee today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc., a
premier research and advisory firm, in the Leaders Quadrant of the
"Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection" report published on
September 6, 2012, written by: John Girard and Eric Ouellet.
This report evaluates vendors who offer Mobile Data Protection (MDP)
products that safeguard data on mobile end-user devices by means of
encryption and authentication. According to the report, "Gartner clients
know that data leakage can cost them money and their reputations, and
eventually most companies will make MDP investments, whether they are
small or large enterprises, or bound by compliance rules or not. They
will make those purchases faster when the solutions are easy to
understand and manage, easy to use, and priced affordably."
Additionally, the report states that most companies recognize that
encrypting business data is a best practice and that Gartner recommends
that all companies should make efforts to broadly install encryption
across their endpoint platforms. Whether the company is motivated by
complying with government and industry regulations or concerned with
maintaining privacy and shielding intellectual property, Gartner
believes that the costs of a data breach are always higher than the cost
to invest in preventative measures such as MDP.
