• The Rutas del Loa road concession will significantly improve Ruta 25's road infrastructure and will increase its safety levels.
  • Its construction will bring more development and competitiveness to the mining sector, driving the industrial and commercial activity in this area.
  • ISA will receive annual revenues for USD 21.6 million.

INTERVIAL CHILE presented the best economic proposal at the international bidding process held by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), for the execution, reparation, preservation, and exploitation of 'Rutas del Loa Road Concession.' It is important to clarify that pursuant to the current bidding regulations for road projects in Chile, the award will be made after the announcement of the name of the company with the best economic offer.

This project is about the improvement and adding of lanes for 111 km of Route 25 between Carmen Alto and the northern part of the city of Calama (A sector) and the construction of 25 km of new route, in the east bypass of Calama which will connect to Route 24, Route 21, Route 23 and Route 25 (B sector). The commissioning of A Sector will be in 2023 and B Sector in 2024.

Once built, INTERVIAL CHILE will be responsible for the repair, preservation, and exploitation of the A sector only, with a maximum concession time of forty (40) years.

The investment reference value estimated by MOP for this project is USD 310 million. The company will receive annual revenues close to USD 21.6 million, once A Sector is in service. This concession establishes a guaranteed minimum revenues mechanism by the Chilean state for twenty-four (24) years to mitigate the traffic risk.

'After 7 years of having acquired INTERVIAL CHILE, this investment ratifies ISA's objective of consolidating in the road concessions business in this country which we consider having a high growth potential and extensive experience in the development of projects under the concessions scheme, with clear rules for investors and traffic risk mitigation mechanisms. This new project will allow ISA to expand its presence towards the northern part of the country where its main productive activity, mining, is concentrated and by this expansion becoming more important in the road concession business', said Bernardo Vargas Gibsone, ISA's CEO.
