Comprehensive operations of service infrastructure for Doctor-NET, a major provider of remote imaging diagnostic services in Japan

November 4, 2015

TOKYO-November 4, 2015- Net Chart Japan Inc. ('Net Chart'), a LAN network construction company and 100% owned subsidiary of Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774) -one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers-today announced that it was awarded a contract by Doctor-NET Inc. ('Doctor-NET') for the procurement and operations management of IT infrastructure to support the remote medical services. The contract took effect on November 1, 2015.

Background

Remote imaging diagnostics involve transferring scanned data such as CTs, MRIs, etc. from a medical institution to another over a network to allow a reading expert to provide appropriate diagnosis. Doctor-NET first began its remote imaging diagnostics service in 1997, providing image reading reports by radiologists whom it had contracts with, as well as backup services of digital radiographs. Due to the increasing load on operations management for service infrastructure that has accompanied growing numbers of medical facilities and diagnostic cases, Doctor-NET had been considering fully outsourcing its infrastructure design, procurement, and operations management in order to focus its management resources on service development and support work. Net Chart has been responsible for building IT infrastructure for Doctor-NET since 2011, and the latter's positive evaluation of that work has resulted in this current contract.

Details of Contract

All operations management and procurement currently handled by Doctor-NET's in-house IT divisions will be contracted exclusively to Net Chart.

With an eye to expanding various functions of their remote imaging diagnostics, Doctor-NET expects to grow its business rapidly by making use of the cloud services provided by the IIJ Group.

Net Chart will continue to contribute to promoting the use of IT solutions in the medical industry by providing safe and stable infrastructure to its customers.
