TOKYO-December 21, 2015-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that it is adding premium codes for the smartphone app TRAVEL JAPAN Wi-Fi(*1)-which enables overseas visitors to access over 200,000 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout Japan-to the Japan Travel SIM(*2)package, which includes a SIM card for IIJ's pre-paid mobile data service for visitors in Japan. Shipments of the new edition of the package will begin in the beginning of January 2016.

Service Overview

Customers visiting Japan can access over 200,000 Wi-Fi hotspots at no charge by downloading the free TRAVEL JAPAN Wi-Fi app and entering the premium code included with the Japan Travel SIM package. In addition to Wi-Fi connectivity, the app also provides useful information for customers' stays in Japan (including tourist destination guides, product information, and coupons).

Usage Guide

  • (*1) TRAVEL JAPAN Wi-Fi: A smartphone app for the free Wi-Fi service provided by Wire and Wireless Co., Ltd.
  • (*2) Japan Travel SIM: A package containing a SIM card loaded with a data allotment for high-speed transmissions. Customers can easily start data transmissions just by inserting the SIM card into their SIM-lock-free device and completing configurations on the device.

IIJ will continue to offer highly convenient services that enable customers visiting Japan to access speedy mobile environments.
