Since its founding in 1998,Interroll South Africahas grown strongly and this year will further expand its local assembly in Johannesburg.The companycelebrated its 20-year anniversary together with more than 100 guests on May 23 in Johannesburg's iconic turbine hall.
With a loyal customer base in industries ranging from food, supermarkets and airports to courier and express as well as warehousing and distribution, Interroll South Africa looks back on past growth that has on average exceeded economic growth. And today, leading companies in South Africa such as Shoprite, SPAR and Simba (Fritos)-with first orders placed in 1998-still choose Interroll as preferred supplier for the storage and picking requirements.
South Africa was also Interroll's first location outside of Europe for the crossbelt sorter and developed into the Interroll market with the largest installed base of crossbelt sorters. Today, Interroll solutions for material handling continue to be in good demand and current trends provide a positive outlook: Many new distribution centers are being built or in planning in the country, some requiring mechanized solutions while others require more automated solutions.
'Our main advantages are the roots we have grown in South Africa while at the same time providing globally consistent solutions within short delivery times,' said Hilton Campbell, Managing Director of Interroll South Africa, who provided an outlook: 'We already have a full production of rollers and our local assembly of both pallet flow and drum motors. Later this year we will start assembling our modular conveyor platform - a solution which is high on our local customers' wish lists- at our facility in Johannesburg.'
