Interserve has won a five-year, circa £6 million facilities management contract to provide a range of support services at the London Borough of Southwark's headquarters.

Interserve has been delivering cleaning services, including daily office cleans, washroom cleaning and window cleaning, and pest control services to the council since 2004. This new facilities management contract builds on this successful service delivery and will see Interserve additionally provide maintenance and engineering services, inter-site mail, security and vending services.

This further responsibility for managing and self-delivering services, at the 23,500 square metre headquarters in Tooley Street, will enable Interserve to support the council's objectives of reducing costs, improving service delivery and creating a better workplace environment for all its employees.

Matthew Hunt, head of facilities management for Southwark Council commented, "Our headquarter building is extremely busy, with around 2,200 members of staff working in a modern office environment. It was important to select a supplier we could work in partnership with to bring innovation and continuous improvement to service standards, which is why we selected Interserve, who we have successfully worked with over the last eight years."

Tony Sanders, managing director - commercial at Interserve, adds, "At Interserve, we pride ourselves on the continued delivery of services that meet our client's needs. The fact that we have not only retained but expanded the services we provide the London Borough of Southwark is testament to the value we can drive through outsourcing for our clients."
