International support services and construction group Interserve has appointed Mike Sewell as its new energy services director.

Mike has over 15 years of experience supporting customers to better manage their energy use and operate their assets more cost-effectively, having led energy services development for a number of major facilities management companies, including Kier, Veolia and Mitie.

Mike's new role will see him develop solutions to help customers improve their energy productivity, with a focus on improving energy resilience and security, the effective use of the latest technologies and dealing with legislative changes. His appointment strengthens the company's ability to deliver an integrated approach to energy and facilities management, spanning the operational lifecycle of customers' workplaces.

Jeff Flanagan, managing director - commercial, at Interserve, said:

'Energy is a critical issue for our customers that directly and significantly impacts upon their bottom line. In a rapidly changing marketplace, with shifting subsidies and new technologies coming to the fore, customers look to Interserve to provide solutions that can help them operate more efficiently.

'Mike's appointment strengthens Interserve's ability to deliver an integrated approach to energy and facilities management. I'm confident that with Mike's expertise and experience behind us, we can continue to help our customers drive down the lifecycle costs of their buildings and workplaces, and operate them with a more resilient approach.'

Mike Sewell said of his new role:

'Interserve is a market-leader and has clear ambitions for the future. The company is committed to developing an intelligent approach to facilities management that cannot be matched by its competitors, and I am excited to help the company shape its energy services proposition in a way that will make a real difference to our customers. Energy is a fundamental issue that affects all organisations. We will help our customers to buy energy better, pay for it better and use it better.'
