Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been recognised at this year's Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards, taking the company's total RoSPA honours over the last decade to more than 250.

Interserve's support services business won a range of honours, including two President's Awards (for receiving up to fourteen consecutive Gold awards), three Gold Medals (for receiving up to nine consecutive Gold awards), one Gold achievement award and one silver award.

The company's construction business was awarded RoSPA's prestigious Order of Distinction, which is presented to companies that have received 15 or more consecutive Gold Awards for their health and safety performance. The division has now won 18 consecutive Gold Awards. Interserve's engineering services business was also recognised with an Order of Distinction award, for the 17th consecutive year.

Interserve's equipment services arm, RMD Kwikform received five President's Awards and one Gold Medal Award.

These awards are the highest honour that a company can achieve in recognition of its approach to health and safety, and will be presented later this year at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel.

The RoSPA awards, which is now in its 62nd year, is open to businesses and organisations across the UK and overseas, recognising occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

The awards recognise Interserve safe practices both in its own operations and at client sites.

Debbie White, Interserve's Chief Executive, said:

'Year on year we strive to operate in an incident free environment. Health and safety is paramount to what we do as a business and across our clients businesses too. To receive over 250 RoSPA awards in the last decade is a true testament of the hard work in place by our employees and contractors, who go above and beyond to ensure our processes and procedures are robust.

'Our number one priority is the health and safety of our employees and contractors, and while there will always be more to do through ongoing improvements, our Accident Incident Rate¹ across the group fell from 128 in 2016 to 95 in 2017.'

Julia Small, RoSPA's head of awards and events, said:

'The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.'
