(Cardiff) Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, announces that it has been appointed a two-year Marine Licensing and Advice Framework by Natural Resources Wales (NRW).
Intertek will provide expert advice on Marine Water Quality Modelling for a range of marine-related projects including such as hydrodynamic modelling, water quality modelling, and their impact on various important water quality parameters; phytoplankton population, nutrient concentrations, stratification and suspended sediment; thermal, sewage and freshwater discharges; as well as ensuring that models are fit-for-purpose. Intertek will also work closely with NRW throughout the framework period to ensure that the outputs of the models are understood and reviewed in a consistent manner.
Chris Mooij, Project Director, Intertek Energy & Water said: 'It is an exciting prospect to work with NRW on this Framework. As recognized leaders in water quality assessment throughout the UK, we are able to bring our experience from all the different regions in addition to many years' experience in Wales. The projects are many and varied, and will require innovation and lateral thinking to deliver the best solutions for Wales now and in the future.'
Rebecca White, NRW Procurement Advisor, said: 'We have fantastic seas and coastline in Wales that supports such an amazing variety of wildlife. This marine environment can also support economic and energy development but we must make sure these do not damage this important ecosystem. This framework will help us to do that.'
