SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wine.com, the nation's leading online wine retailer, today announced the eighth annual Wine.com 100. Reflecting the top wines purchased on the website during the first 11 months of 2014, the Wine.com 100 is the industry's only list based exclusively on consumer purchasing data. The list provides insight into consumer trends, highlighting the most popular regions, varietals and producers. The complete 2014 Wine.com 100 list is available online at www.wine.com/100.

This year, Caymus 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon took the #1 spot. This is the first year that a wine retailing over $20 has topped the list. Caymus released its 40(th) anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon to much fanfare and accolades. Blessed with the 40(th) anniversary label coinciding with a fantastic vintage in California, the 2012 bottling quickly rose to the top in units sold on Wine.com.

"Creating a unique expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has been my life's passion for the last 40 years," said Chuck Wagner, owner and winemaker of Caymus Vineyards. "As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, my family is very grateful to Wine.com for its partnership, which has supported us for so many years. Having our Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet earn the #1 spot on the site's Top 100 list is an honor that we will seek to live up to by continuing to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon," added Wagner.

In addition to two vintages of Caymus, the Wagner family claimed three more spots on the list with the Conundrum and Mer Soleil brands.
