The beauty of the Intuit QuickBooks platform is that it delivers for entrepreneurs on all sides of the ecosystem – helping fuel success for the millions of small businesses and accountants who use it and for the software entrepreneurs who invent ways that add to the QuickBooks experience.

At QuickBooks Connect last week, Intuit announced ShopVOX as the winner of the 2017 $100,000 Small Business App Showdown, a contest that honors the very best apps published on the QuickBooks App Store over the last year.

ShopVOX is cloud-based software that provides businesses with a simple solution for creative custom manufacturing. With more than 3000 customers worldwide, ShopVOX enables quick and pain free experience for businesses to customize promotional products – like screen-printing apparel and signage. One size doesn’t always fit all, so ShopVOX provides custom pricing and custom workflows based on specific business needs.

“The QuickBooks platform is thriving because of all the innovative apps available on Apps.com that help small businesses grow and be more efficient in the work they do,” said Alex Barnett, director of the Intuit Developer Group. “The apps that participated in this year’s Showdown are no different. ShopVOX is a true example of how software engineers are innovating to fuel small business success.”

“We’re thrilled to be this year’s App Showdown winner and recognized as a top new app on Intuit’s App store,” said Rao Meka, co-founder of ShopVOX. “With the $100,000 prize money and integration on Intuit’s platform, we will be able to invest in accelerating our growth and reach even more small businesses delivering custom built items for their businesses, on time and without error.”

The Small Business App Showdown kicked off in August when apps new to QuickBooks Online platform and published on Apps.com entered their app into the contest for consideration as a finalist. Every app in the contest was featured in an online gallery promoted to the more than 2.38 million QuickBooks Online users worldwide. Intuit Developer then selected the top 10 finalists based on their quality of integration with QuickBooks Online, level of innovation, market impact, and numbers of connections, five star reviews, and community votes. This year's 10 finalists – who hail from the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand – demonstrate the wide range of innovative apps on the platform. They competed on stage at Intuit’s annual QuickBooks Connect conference in San Jose, CA, in front of a panel of judges and an audience of accountants, small business owners and other developers.

Last year's winner, Share a Refund, helps save time and money for businesses by auditing their shipping invoices for overcharges related to billing mistakes assessed to them by carriers. Since winning the 2016 App Showdown, developer Nick Hoffman says the business has doubled its customer base and moved into new markets in Canada and the U.K.
