InvenSense Inc. (NYSE:INVN), a leading provider of MEMS sensor platform solutions, announced Coursa Retail, a shopper location analytics and retargeting service for brick and mortar retailers that enables the same degree of actionable shopper behavior insights in-store that retailers have today through their online channels. Coursa Retail integrates into the retailer’s mobile customer application and uses existing motion tracking sensors in shopper smartphones to deliver unique insights into individual and aggregated shopper behavior in stores by accurately recording and tracking the shopper’s path and dwell time at all points in a retail store.

With intense competition from online retailing, brick-and-mortar (offline) retail companies are looking for deeper customer insights to improve customer loyalty and to drive higher conversion rates similar to online models. Retailers can already retarget online customers based on their browsing history, but in-store consumer behavior and browsing history has always been a “black hole”, until now.

The Coursa Retail platform delivers unprecedented shopper insights such as missed conversions, checkout duration and queue measurement, purchase sequence, and traffic flow by department, end-cap, aisle and category. With precise shopper location information from Coursa, retailers can now retarget consumers based on their in-store browsing and shopping history that can drastically improve conversion rates and customer loyalty.

The key advantages of the Coursa Retail platform versus existing solutions on the market are that it operates in the background and does not require real-time engagement by the shopper, it does not require any expensive per-store infrastructure or site surveys, it works on shopper’s existing smartphones, and it does not require access to any in-store retailer data networks. Coursa Retail supports both iOS and Android smartphones.

“Coursa Retail is the first Software as a Service (SaaS) platform from InvenSense focused on indoor location analytics,” said Eitan Medina vice president marketing and product management, InvenSense. “Insights from our platform can be turned into actions and monetized by retailers, enabling them to increase conversion and loyalty by retargeting customers from in-store missed conversions. The data from Coursa Retail can also optimize merchandising, store planning and staffing decisions.”

The Coursa Retail platform is now available for retail pilot deployments. The platform will be introduced to retailers at NRF’s Big Show in New York City on January 17-19 (Booth #718). For additional information, please visit http://www.coursaretail.com/ or contact Sales at sales@coursaretail.com.
