Investec is a banking group organized around 3 areas of activity:
- bank (97.8% of Net Interest Income): activities of market and finance banking (involvement in the interest rate, currency exchange, securities, and raw materials markets, financial product sales, project financing, etc.), private banking and investment banking (financial engineering, stock brokerage, investment capital, etc.);
- insurance and asset management (0.7%): EUR116 billion of assets under management in 2011/12;
- other (1.5%).
At the end of March 2012, the group managed EUR30.6 billion in current deposits and EUR20.6 billion in current credits.
Net Interest Income breaks down geographically as follows: South Africa (49.4%), Europe (41.1%) and Oceania (9.5%).
