New 500,000 cubic-foot facility in Sterling, Virginia will host a launch ceremony featuring Representative Barbara Comstock of VA's 10th District

RESTON, VA - Oct. 07, 2015 - Iron Mountain Incorporated ® (NYSE:IRM), a leading provider of storage and information management services, announced today that it is opening a new, state-of-the-art federal records center in Sterling, Virginia on October 13, 2015. This Iron Mountain facility has close to 500,000 cubic feet of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) compliant space, and is specifically designed to meet federal agencies' needs for temporary records storage. The launch will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks by U.S. Representative Barbara Comstock of Virginia's 10th Congressional District.

With government records facilities reaching their maximum capacity, the need for secure and federally-compliant records storage space has never been higher. This has been emphasized in executive mandates like the Reduce the Footprint policy, which calls for agencies to move from freezing to reducing their physical footprint, including records storage space, beginning in FY 2016. This new CFR facility in Sterling is Iron Mountain's sixth such compliant facility - with two more slated for launch in the Northeast and Midwest before the end of 2015 - and part of the company's continued efforts to provide industry-leading, fully-compliant storage options for federal customers nationwide. The launch of this new facility also provides agencies with storage space that is available for lease as a self-managed option or as a fully managed service, and can be customized to fit their specific requirements.

'A well-managed offsite records management program creates more efficiency for federal agencies both in terms of cost and compliance, while ensuring information is secure and protected,' said Ernest W. Cloutier, Executive Vice President, U.S. Federal, Security and Legal, Iron Mountain. 'As agencies race to comply with mandates to reduce their physical footprint, onsite storage space grows tighter. Finding a partner who can provide compliant offsite storage can help relieve the pain of shrinking space and rising regulatory requirements for information management. It can also allow federal agencies to take advantage of additional features and services they can't easily provide on their own, such as customizable storage and 'build to suit' compliant facilities.'

Members of the media interested in attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony, hearing the remarks provided by Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA, 10th District) and touring the facility should contact A.J. Guenther at 571-323-2585 ext. 2130 or aj@connellyworks.com.

The welcome and ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30am on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, followed immediately by guided facility tours. To view the full agenda, please visit us online at http://go.ironmountain.com/SterlingOpening.
