Unit Manager of the year award for Chris Giannangelo, plus six ISS finalists
The Cost Sector Service Awards were announced on March 31st 2016 at which ISS was delighted to see the Unit Manager of the Year Award given to Chris Giannangelo, Food Services Manager.

Organised by Cost Catering Sector Magazine, the Awards highlight the excellence achieved by both individuals and teams in the food service industry. The annual event celebrates recognition by peers for both finalists and winners.

The Unit Manager Award is given to an individual responsible for a single site. Chris, who works with a major financial sector client at their HQ in London's Canary Wharf, received the award for his exceptional talent for service excellence and in building and maintaining exemplary client relationships.

In addition to the award won by Chris, several teams and individuals across the ISS business were in the finals. Lee Martin was shortlisted for the Chef Award, whilst Peter Wilson and Samantha Campbell were both finalists for the Contract Catering Multi-Site Manager Award category. Collectively, the Food & Hospitality Team collectively was shortlisted for Cost Sector Catering Team of the Year and their dining concept called 'Unearthed' was shortlisted for the Innovation Award.

Upcoming talent was also recognised in the finals. The ISS Academy of Excellence - which provides training and development for the next generation of food service talent - was shortlisted for the Training & Apprenticeship Award. Leeds City College and ISS Food and Hospitality - the innovative catering business at ISS - created the Academy to nurture young talent.

Richard Sykes, CEO, ISS UK & Ireland commented, "The service sector, with catering as a key part of this, is growing and represents a significant part of our national economy. Therefore it's essential that we showcase the best that we offer in terms of our people and the service we deliver. I'm delighted to see Chris gain this award which supports and highlights the importance of service excellence and the importance of what we at ISS call, 'The Power of The Human Touch'."

Richard concluded, "The calibre of entrants reaches greater heights each year and it's wonderful to not only win an award, but to also have so many of our people reach the finals for the second consecutive year. It's especially heartening to reach the finals for the Training and Apprenticeship Award as we know this important initiative will help our future talent to flourish."

The awards were attended by over 700 people from the food and hospitality service industries serving both public and private sector organisations.
