ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter 'ITOCHU') announced today that it was selected as a Health and Productivity Stock in the health and productivity management program jointly carried out by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

This program selects companies from among those listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange that consider and strategically promote the health management of employees from a managerial viewpoint. The companies are selected through evaluations that examine criteria such as 'corporate philosophy,' 'organizational structure,' 'systems/measures implemented,' 'evaluation/improvement,' and 'compliance with laws and regulations/risk management.'

The three main factors contributing to ITOCHU's selection are as follows

(i) Morning-oriented work system

This system, which is the first of its kind, has helped to address the issue of long-working hours that affect the health of employees by changing the way people think, and by making comprehensive improvements to work efficiency.

(ii) Borderless concierges

Public health nurses or nurses (concierges) take care of employees who need health guidance, including those who suffer from lifestyle-related diseases, on a one-on-one basis. They have provided health guidance for over 30 years to those who work in Japan, as well as employees stationed all over the world, in collaboration with industrial doctors or medical specialists.

(iii) Career Counselling Office

The Office was established in 2001 ahead of other companies. It provides various types of counselling to all employees in their second year, fourth year and eighth year with the company. It also provides assistance to those who request counselling, helping them with their health condition.

ITOCHU considers human resources to be its most important form of management assets.
