LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. - July 13, 2015 - Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), a world-leading technology and services company dedicated to the resourceful use of energy and water, announced today that it has signed contracts with Stadtnetze Neustadt and Stadtwerke Garbsen, energy providers to 25,000 and 35,000 customers, respectively, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Both utilities will utilize Itron Total Services to monitor renewable generation in compliance with Germany's Renewable Energy Act. Itron Total Services takes Itron's existing industry-leading capabilities in metering, communications, data management, analysis and professional services, and packages them together in a simplified, subscription-based structure.

Itron will help the utilities monitor and manage the integration of renewable energy into the electric grid, ensuring grid reliability. With two-way communication capabilities and detailed usage data, the utilities will have greater visibility into their renewable energy generation. Itron will provide the ongoing operations of the systems, including daily management and maintenance of all Itron smart meters, back-office data collection software and network communications infrastructure.
