Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading provider of network testing, visibility, and security solutions, today announced the availability of IxVerify, the first software solution specifically architected to work in an emulation-based verification flow. IxVerify, combined with the Veloce Virtual Network (VN) App, accelerates the pre-silicon verification of complex networking chips. This enables network equipment and chip manufacturers to reduce time to market, while minimizing risk and development costs.

With cloud computing and network functions virtualization (NFV) pushing the boundaries of network capacity, network equipment and chip manufacturers are forced to accelerate the development of state-of-the-art system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. IxVerify creates a ‘shift left’ in the verification flow, smoothing the transitions between simulation, emulation, and the lab environment.

IxVerify Speeds Time to Market

IxVerify fills the gap between emulation and the lab for greater efficiency and improved debugging in post-silicon verification. It provides hundreds of predefined packet templates for testing Ethernet and TCP/IP protocols and is capable of generating high volumes of traffic. With its ability to run hundreds of virtualized test ports at once, it offers the unique ability to dynamically shape traffic to ensure zero packet loss at maximum emulation speeds.

“IxVerify is a major innovation for both the test and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industries,” said Sunil Kalidindi, vice president of product management at Ixia. “It extends Ixia’s intellectual property and test expertise into the EDA space, offering new and improved test methodologies that simplify pre-silicon testing and shifts testing ‘further-left’ into the development cycle.”

IxVerify Cuts Development Costs

IxVerify enables design and system verification engineers, as well as well networking engineers, to identify and resolve potential defects early in the design process, which can significantly reduce project costs. Defects found during design can save customers from investing in expensive re-spins. The ability to catch common logic errors as well as challenging path, clocking, and power errors, significantly improves the probability of first-pass silicon success and on-budget delivery.

IxVerify Integration with the Veloce VN App

The integration between IxVerify and the Veloce VN App bridges the gap between pre-silicon verification and post-silicon validation to deliver highly optimized flow control and configurability. With the Veloce VN App, networking design teams can run the same tests in simulation, emulation, and the lab for greater efficiency, improved debug, and faster time-to-market.

“Adoption of the Veloce emulation platform in the networking market continues at a rapid pace,” said Eric Selosse, vice president and general manager of the Mentor Emulation Division. “Our integration with Ixia is an example of the forward-thinking solutions needed to verify today’s complex networking SoC designs.”

IxVerify and the Veloce VN App enable networking customers to seamlessly exercise an Ixia virtual test environment in a data center-based verification setting where emulation (Veloce) and simulation (Questa®) resources are available. This allows the reuse of traffic flow generation scripts for greater verification cycle productivity, and gives customers the ability to include comprehensive and realistic network traffic in system-level validation.
