IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ:IXYS), a leader in power semiconductors and integrated circuit technologies for energy efficient products used in power conversion and motor control applications, announced today the expansion of the product portfolio of the new “Dual Thyristor-Triac” technology platform (DT-Triac™).

Triacs are known as best-in-class for AC power control, providing better power density in numerous power system applications. However, traditional triacs have been limited to lower currents and lower voltages and low dv/dt and di/dt ratings.

“With this latest addition to the DT-Triac™ technology, IXYS continues its tradition of innovative bipolar power devices. The DT-Triac™ has the same functionality as a standard triac but with higher di/dt and dv/dt ratings. This contributes to more robust devices together with the long-term stability of blocking voltage and higher current capability,” states Dr Elmar Wisotzki, General Manager of IXYS Germany.

The IXYS DT-Triac™ is designed for line frequency applications and three quadrant operation, namely quadrants I to III. Target applications are solid state relays, soft start AC motor control, DC motor control, HVAC systems, UPS, AC power control, input power control for SMPS’s, lighting and heater controls.

The CLA80MT1200NHB is a TO-247 AC-controller product with 1200 volt, 80 amps using the new DT-Triac™ technology. Furthermore, an isolated version is introduced in an ISO247™ housing, named CLA80MT1200NHR.

For surface mounted applications, the TO-263ABHV – D2Pak without middle pin for higher creepage distance – provides a 30 and a 40 amp version: CLA30MT1200NPZ and CLA40MT1200NPZ. Both parts are also available as TO-220 versions (…NPB) .

All parts are available in production quantities. For additional information, please contact your local sales representative at: http://www.ixys.com/SalesContacts.aspx or visit http://www.ixys.com for datasheets.
