Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it received a contract to serve as Independent Certifier for the M4 Widening project in Sydney, Australia.

Company officials did not disclose the contract value.

As Independent Certifier, Jacobs is providing services to review and advise on compliance with the project’s deed requirements during the design and construction phases of the M4 Widening Project to widen the motorway between Parramatta and Homebush from three to four lanes in each direction.

The widening of M4 is the first stage of the WestConnex Project, a 7.5 kilometre (nearly five mile) motorway that is expected to transform Sydney’s road network by joining together two of Sydney’s busiest motorways, the M4 and M5, connecting the city’s central business district, airport and port. The total construction value is estimated at $A11.5 billion, making it Australia’s biggest urban road project.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Michael Shirley said, “We are delighted to build upon on our long-standing involvement with this project and are pleased to have a significant role in the first phase of WestConnex. We look forward to applying our experience with major transport infrastructure projects and our verification services capability to this important project.”

Jacobs is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical professional and construction services.
