PASADENA, Calif., Feb. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that its joint venture with AMEC, Assystem and Mott MacDonald has been awarded one of two contracts that establishes a design services alliance (DSA) with Sellafield Limited for its operation in West Cumbria, United Kingdom.

The DSA framework, awarded to the AXIOM joint venture, provides Sellafield with access to the full range of multi-disciplined engineering services - civil and structural, mechanical, control and instrumentation and process - for the development and refurbishment of new and existing facilities and decommissioning at the Sellafield site. Sellafield Ltd anticipates the contract to operate for up to 15 years. Officials did not disclose the contract value.

AXIOM's contract involves providing front-end engineering design support for all new facilities as well as refurbishment and upgrading of existing facilities and systems to the production operations and infrastructure directorates at Sellafield. This work is being delivered in collaboration with Sellafield's own staff and local suppliers with all parties working as part of an integrated team.

Jacobs Group Vice President Bob Irvin stated, "We are delighted to continue our collaborative working relationship with Sellafield. We are well-established working with the local supply chain in West Cumbria, and this new agreement gives us further opportunity to share and leverage our collective knowledge and experience to assist Sellafield in delivering its project commitments."

Todd Wright, the NMP-sponsored Managing Director for Sellafield Ltd, said, "Effective supply chain engagement through long-term collaborative alliances is key to Sellafield Ltd delivering and exceeding commitments made in our performance plan. These new contracts will bring stability and certainty to the supply chain and are excellent news for West Cumbria."

Jacobs is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical, professional, and construction services.
