James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS), part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has been announced as the integrated marine services contractor by ScottishPower Renewables during the construction phase of East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm.

As part of this contract, worth £3 million, JFMS will bring together a wide range of services and utilise extensive expertise as part of its integrated contractor model, to deliver innovation and operational excellence toEast Anglia ONE - which is estimated to be a £2.5bn infrastructure investment.

Jonathan Cole, managing director for offshore wind at ScottishPower Renewables, said:

'Our East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm is progressing with great pace now and we are delighted to confirm James Fisher Marine Services will be working with us on the project. James Fisher has a proven track record for delivering comprehensive bespoke solutions which, coupled with the numerous bases it has in East Anglia, makes the company very well placed to support us on East Anglia ONE.'

This success further underlines JFMS's extensive offshore renewables experience, especially in the East Anglia region, having provided significant marine services and support to Galloper Offshore Wind Farm over the past two years, contributing to local investment and employment.

Charlie Jordan, ScottishPower Renewables project director for East Anglia ONE, said:

'We are pleased that we will be working with James Fisher Marine Services, and benefitting from the extensive experience they have in the offshore wind sector. This new contract builds on work they have previously undertaken for us at our Wikinger project off the German coast. The wide ranging contract will cover marine coordination, communications and vessel supply.'

To support the construction phase of East Anglia ONE, JFMS will provide; marine coordination through its innovative Offshore Wind Management System, guard vessel provision and associated services, installation and maintenance of offshore site boundary markers, Fern Communications WaveCom™ offshore communications system, as well as a wide range of marine equipment and services to the project as required.

JFMS has invested heavily in the East of England over the last 5 years, including the development of its renewables support base in Lowestoft, and has seen strong growth through its integrated services approach, supporting the regional offshore renewables industry and local supply chain. This recent contract announcement demonstrates the strong regional relationships the company has fostered through its dedication to local investment.

East Anglia ONE will consist of 102 wind turbines producing 714 megawatts per year - the equivalent to powering 500,000 homes. East Anglia ONE is the first project identified for development in the East Anglia Zone and construction is currently underway and the wind farm is expected to be fully-operational by 2020.
