Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. engages in the offshore drilling and engineering businesses in relation to oil and natural gas exploration and development. The Offshore Drilling segment operates drilling rigs and provides offshore drilling and other related services regarding oil and natural gas exploration and development in domestic and overseas markets. The Operation and Management segment manages and operates the riser drilling vessel named CHIKYU, which is owned by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC). The Others segment engages in the drilling for pipe lines laying of oil and gas pipeline, power cables, communication cables and water and sewerage, the contracted research and engineering services for methane hydrate development, and the sale and export of machinery and materials related to exploration and development of oil, gas and other underground resources. On September 8, 2014, it set up a new subsidiary in Saudi Arabia, Japan Drilling Saudi Arabia Company.
