Test LTE Cell Sites Faster with Unique JDSU Physical Cell Identity (PCI) Locking and LTE-Advanced

Award-winning solution now available on commercial devices

January 28, 2014 - Building on its market-leading RANAdvisor solution, JDSU is extending its unique UTRA Absolute Radio-Frequency Channel Number (UARFCN) locking capabilities for 3G to LTE PCI-sector locking using a commercial handset. The RANAdvisor solution streamlines testing of LTE cell site sectors by allowing the user to lock to a specific PCI, eliminating handovers to optimize valuable time and enable additional site testing to generate revenues quicker.

Key Benefits

  • Maximizes revenue from new cells faster than ever: When testing LTE and LTE-A cell sites, engineers must be able to lock on to a specific PCI to ensure that they are testing the correct sector. This unique capability lets you select the PCI value (0 to 503) and lock the device to that PCI throughout the test for quicker cell turn-up and, therefore, to rapidly generate revenue.
  • Eliminates retesting: Regardless of network conditions while in PCI Lock mode, RANAdvisor will not hand over to another cell, allowing for quicker LTE cell test completion and eliminating the need to retest.

Use Case

Often engineers must deploy a new LTE cell site or test an existing one only to have the device hand over to another cell during testing due to network conditions, necessitating a retest at additional costs. Now you can guarantee test completion in a single walk/drive by uniquely locking the device to a specific PCI, which eliminates these common issues.

JDSU RAN Test Solutions are currently in use at many of the world's largest mobile operators, enhancing the customer experience every day. For more information about the Wireless Network Optimization Platform, visit our website.
