JFE : Engineering Group Company Receives Order for Waste Heat Recovery Boiler in Germany

Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH (hereinafter, SBG), which is a subsidiary of JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Hajime Oshita, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), has recently received an order for a waste heat recovery boiler from INEOS Manufacturing Deutschland GmbH (hereinafter, INEOS in Cologne), a petrochemical manufacturer located in Cologne, Germany.

INEOS in Cologne produces ethylene and other products from naphtha and natural gas, and utilize the combustion heat of residual gases generated in production processes at its plant. The company had studied renovation of these boilers in order to further improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental loads.

The order which SBG received recently is for a waste heat recovery boiler that will generate 240 t/h of steam with a pressure of 109 bara and temperature of 530 °C. In this project, one unit will replace an existing boiler. The steam generated by the boiler will be used to generate electricity and manufacture petrochemical products. The generated electric power will cover 1/3 of the power used by the plant.

To date, SBG has constructed more than 100 waste heat recovery boilers, mainly in Europe. The order in this project was based on this extensive track record, together with a high evaluation of SBG's combustion technology, which burn residual fuels in a staged combustion. The applied combustion technology comprises a substochiometric high temperature combustion and a second combustion chamber downstream.
