The effects of Hurricane Harvey, which hit the southern US city of Houston on 25 August 2017, are devastating, with countless homes and businesses affected. Known as America's energy centre because of its shipping channels and oil refineries, Houston is home to many members of our Tracerco team.

As Houston residents, supported by charities like the American Red Cross, pick up the pieces and battle on-going floods, Florida and the Caribbean now have an even stronger, category 5 hurricane to contend with. While the full extent of the damage is not yet known, we think of all those who are tragically in harm's way, including our colleagues in Savannah, Georgia.

JM is committed to supporting world crises and charities round the world, which is why we are donating £5,000 to both hurricane efforts through the American Red Cross and Plan International, our charity partner.

Robert MacLeod, Chief Executive of Johnson Matthey said:

"Johnson Matthey has a strong history of supporting relief efforts. At this troubled time, we think of our friends and colleagues experiencing the distressing consequences of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

We hope that our contribution will help limit the impact of the storms on communities in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean."
