J.P. Morgan and the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, in partnership with Thammasat University, Thailand's second oldest university, have launched a development program to encourage city youth to become social entrepreneurs and strengthen businesses in rural communities. The initiative is meant to help improve the quality of life for people in lower income communities by enabling them to earn a living in a sustainable and entrepreneurial environment.

The Developing Youth Social Entrepreneurs and Rural Micro Entrepreneurs initiative, which is supported by a range of public and private sector organizations in Thailand, aims to improve entrepreneurial capabilities for: new start-up entrepreneurs in rural areas; those in rural areas that are interested in starting new businesses, but lack experience and skills; and city youth with an interest in becoming social entrepreneurs.

As part of the program, three of Thammasat University's specialized institutes, the Human Resources Institute, the School of Global Studies and the Institute of Business Incubator will provide guidance and expertise to support the program and ultimately help develop 400 community-based entrepreneurs by next year.

This initiative comes as J.P. Morgan celebrates its 50th year in Thailand, and reflects the bank's deep commitment to supporting communities around the world. Learn more about J.P. Morgan in Thailand.
