Julius Baer expands its trading and execution capabilities in Asia Julius Baer, the leading Swiss private banking group, has appointed Luigi Vignola as new regional Head Asia of its Markets & Custody division, the trading and execution department of the Bank, as of 1 January 2012. In this function he will be responsible for the expansion of the trading and execution platform in Singapore and related activities in Hong Kong as well as for enhancing the market access and solutions provided to clients.

Luigi Vignola succeeds Gérard Berclaz who will return to Switzerland to assume another key position within Markets & Custody. As part of his new responsibilities, Luigi Vignola will also be member of the Markets & Custody Management Committee and of the Bank's Asia Executive Committee. In his previous function, he was instrumental in building the Tailored Solutions Group in the Structured Products area. Luigi Vignola holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Zurich, Switzerland.

Peter Gerlach, Head Markets & Custody, commented: "Going forward, Luigi and his team will focus particularly on enhancing the market access and providing derivative solutions across all assets classes to the relationship managers and their clients in the region. In this way, we complement our comprehensive offering with new state-of-the-art solutions and services, meeting the strong demand of our Asian clients and contributing to the Bank's next phase of growth in Asia.
