Energy efficiency is one of the key themes of the intralogistics sector. Jungheinrich is currently the only intralogistics provider to develop, produce and supply not only trucks, but also the associated batteries and charging systems. At Jungheinrich, the customer receives everything from a single source. This depth of manufacturing guarantees custom solutions and maximum efficiency for optimum use. Jungheinrich is currently the largest manufacturer of charging technology and lithium-ion batteries for mobile machines in Europe.

Dr Oliver Lücke, Member of Board of Management for Engineering at Jungheinrich AG: 'While electromobility is still a long way off for other suppliers, it has been a tradition at Jungheinrich for more than 60 years. Only Jungheinrich offers an integrated system from the charging station via the energy storage to the drive units from a single source. For customers, energy efficiency offers a clear operational advantage. The communication of the battery with the charger and truck ensures both optimum use and benefits. We are proud of our depth of manufacturing which is unique in the energy sector. Anyone who relies on energy-efficient solutions in the warehouse cannot ignore Jungheinrich.'

In the course of 2017, Jungheinrich will offer lithium-ion batteries for its full range of models for the first time. Almost all Jungheinrich trucks already in service can also be retrofitted with replacement batteries. Fast charging times, maintenance-free operation and a long service life are the advantages of this generation of batteries. The lithium-ion components from Jungheinrich are perfectly matched and communicate with each other. Since neither gases nor acids can escape from lithium-ion batteries, special charging rooms with expensive exhaust systems are no longer required. This is not only safe, but saves space and money. Almost continuous use of the fleet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, can be achieved by means of fast and short boost charging. Time-consuming battery replacement is not required with lithium-ion batteries. The storage of replacement batteries and battery changing devices can be avoided. Due to the great advantages demonstrated by lithium-ion technology in operation, Jungheinrich plans to expand the production of its own batteries.

Jungheinrich continues to offer its 2Shifts1Charge warranty for conventional lead-acid batteries. This means that a truck is able to complete two shifts at a time, without having to have its battery replaced or recharged. This saves valuable time, precious energy and reduces operating costs. One of the reasons why this is possible is the synchronous reluctance motor developed by Jungheinrich which combines the high performance and energy efficiency of synchronous motors with the cost and maintenance benefits of three-phase asynchronous motors. Around 93 percent of the energy is converted into power, thereby halving the energy losses.

The integrated energy expertise is completed by the range of modern charging devices. Economical, demand-oriented energy supply is an essential building block for energy efficiency. Whether a wet cell battery or maintenance-free battery. One, two or three-shift operation, whether three-phase AC or a single phase network, low load or heavy load with or without boost charging: Jungheinrich offers precisely the right product for the maximum battery life and performance.
