At Jupiter, we recognise the importance of embracing diversity and inclusion at the most fundamental level within our business. We believe that diversity leads to superior idea generation, better thinking and more effective decision making. It will therefore be key to our future success in a world that includes changing demographics, growth opportunities in new markets and evolving socio-economic trends.

In order to fully address this objective, Jupiter has an established Diversity and Inclusion policy based on the principle that 'diversity is the mix, inclusion is getting the mix working well together'. As part of its commitment towards diversity and inclusion, Jupiter is proud to be a signatory of the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter, a pledge towards improving gender balance in the financial services sector. The Charter asks firms to commit to implementing four key recommendations which can be viewed here.

This initiative is aligned with Jupiter's meritocratic culture, which seeks to attract, recognise and reward talent, regardless of gender, across our global business. These goals are supported by senior management including HR Director Gillian Van Maaren who is responsible and accountable for gender diversity and inclusion at Jupiter. We seek to achieve tangible change in order to deliver progress on all targets outlined in the Charter.

Actions towards achieving our goals

  • Promote greater diversity at industry events through greater focus on gender diversity
  • Focus on growing female representation in front office
  • Build formal programme to support high potential employees
  • Seek a better understanding of the challenges faced by women through employee opinion surveys
  • Continue to focus on upskilling our managerial capability to harness talent

Behaviours and the reward system

We believe diversity and inclusion is a simple concept - to have the right people, regardless of background, in the right role. We value individual talent within a team framework and respect that high standards and innovation contribute to our high performance culture. These objectives are reflected in every individual's appraisal and development plan, which is closely linked to the annual reward cycle. We believe that the differences between individuals are something to be valued as they enable us to be robust and flexible as a business to better serve our stakeholders.
