Students and teachers at Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA), an online public charter school, head back to the virtual classroom on Aug. 14th. A statewide school available to students in grades K-12, ARVA offers students a rigorous and engaging curriculum.

ARVA students tackle a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, language arts, history, and art, as well as electives at appropriate grade levels. Lesson plans for each subject are integrated throughout the school year, so students may be reading literature from the same time period as the art or history lesson they are studying in another class.

ARVA’s Arkansas-certified teachers facilitate lessons during live, interactive online classes. The dedicated staff communicate one-on-one with students via phone and email. ARVA provides families across the state with an innovative education option, with personalized learning plans to meet the needs of every student.

“ARVA allows students to learn in ways that meet their unique needs,” says teacher Katharine Greene. “Thanks to the flexibility of online learning and our rigorous curriculum, I provide my students with the support they need to thrive in the virtual classroom and continue onwards and upwards in their academic careers.”

Depending on grade level, students attend six or more hours of lessons each day. In addition to the virtual classroom, ARVA students have access to resources such as books, workbooks, and materials for experiments and projects. Outside of class time, students, families and teachers enjoy meeting face-to-face at school events in their communities and through student clubs and activities.

ARVA is now accepting lottery applications for the 2017-2018 school year. To learn more about enrollment, visit http://arva.k12.com/how-enroll.html and find an online information session at http://arva.k12.com/events-calendar.html. A series of in-person meet-and-greet opportunities for prospective families will be held at the Northwest Arkansas Naturals games throughout August.
