Students attending California Virtual Academy @ San Joaquin (CAVA @ San Joaquin), the full-time, online public charter school for students in grades K-12, mark the start of the school year on August 29 simply by turning on their computer. The virtual school program enters its 14th year of operation in the state.

CAVA @ San Joaquin is one of 10 independent charter schools in California that uses the K12 online curriculum to offer students in grades K–12 a unique learning experience. The online, flexible school setting creates a comfortable, unique environment for each student. CAVA @ San Joaquin helps students discover their individual learning style by allowing qualified students to enroll in college courses for credit and get a head start on their college education.

Lessons come to life with a rich mixture of on- and offline teaching tools, including interactive animations, award-winning printed books with beautiful illustrations and narrative, original CDs and videos, and materials for hands-on experiments which are delivered to students. (Common household and office supplies such as printer ink and paper are not provided.)

In addition to the lively and varied course offerings, students have the opportunity to participate in social clubs, field trips and regular gatherings where they can interact face-to-face. CAVA @ San Joaquin provides programming for students at each grade level.

"The students that enroll in CAVA @ San Joaquin seek a personalized learning experience that enables them to excel and explore their own learning style," said Kimberly Odom, Director of Special Education.
