Students at Insight Schools of California (ISCA) will begin their 2016-2017 school year on August 29. This marks the third year of operation in the state for the accredited, full-time, online public charter schools.

ISCA serves students in grades 9 through 12 who reside in many counties in California, including Los Angeles, Kern, San Bernardino, Ventura, Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Sacramento and Santa Clara.

Teachers and staff work with students and their families to help them overcome obstacles with a unique and supportive approach. Using the award-winning K12 curriculum, ISCA students are provided the assistance, guidance and individualized support to help them succeed. As a public school option, there is no tuition.

ISCA sends students the educational materials they need at no cost to families – the back-to-school box could include a variety of items, such as geometry workbooks; petri dishes for hands-on science experiments; and rock samples for a geology class. Common household and office supplies (e.g. printer ink and paper) are not included in the materials sent.

“A struggling student may be one who has failed certain courses, is bored or turned off by school, misses school days, feels unsafe at school, or perhaps has received suspensions or been left back. Many factors can contribute to these struggles,” said Melissa Garcia, Director of Insight Schools of California. “We specialize in helping students catch up and excel in their schooling.”

At ISCA, students attend school from the safety of home, where they can focus on their studies without distractions or peer pressure and with the help of state-certified teachers and caring counselors. The daily structure and lessons are provided through a stimulating online school environment where students are able to interact with their peers.

In addition to the award-winning curriculum provided by K12, ISCA offers Social-Emotional Learning that teachers implement in order to provide students with the encouragement, strategies, and confidence to become successful young adults. Additionally, students can take advantage of the quarter system model which ISCA operates. This program enables students to concentrate on just three courses each quarter (typically a nine-week period). This program often helps students get back on track and graduate from high school on time. ISCA is still accepting enrollments for this fall.
