Students at Hill House Passport Academy Charter School (HHPACS) a tuition-free Pittsburgh public charter school, will begin their 2016-2017 school year on Aug. 31, thankful for a second chance to get their education back on track and earn a diploma.

HHPACS is a blended learning environment designed for students under the age of 21 who have not been able to previously finish high school. Students attending the school come from various backgrounds, but many have had to overcome great personal struggle. The program provides targeted and specialized support so that students facing challenges such as homelessness and teen parenting can still be successful.

Students are required to attend three hours of in-person learning each day. The flexible schedule and blended learning model allows students to move through the curriculum at their own pace and attend classes during either the morning or afternoon session while finishing the rest of their work online.

“Our students have overcome so much to be here,” said Shelly Nichols, a senior advisor at Hill House Passport Academy Charter School. “We are honored that we can be a part of their future success.”

HHPACS’s graduation rate is made possible through the school’s partnership with local organizations and traditional public schools. This way the school is able to identify students that will thrive in the blended learning environment and support students so they are successful. The school’s support is provided by unique programs that include workshops, ongoing development and in-person tutoring to help students reach required academic benchmarks ensuring students are prepared for life after high school.

HHPACS is still accepting enrollments for this fall. To learn more about enrollment requirements, visit http://hhpa.k12.com and follow us on Facebook.
