AUGUSTA, Maine, June 15, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Maine Virtual Academy (MEVA), an online public school program authorized by the Maine Charter School Commission, celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2016 at a ceremony on Saturday, June 11, in Augusta. This is the first-ever graduating class for the school, which opened its doors in 2015.

The class of 2016 comprises 16 students. Graduates plan to pursue higher education at colleges and universities including Northern Maine Community College, University of Maine-Augusta and the University of Saint Francis. The students were addressed by the Salutatorian, Jacqueline Rebman, and a student speaker, Zachary Stroyzk.

Maine Virtual Academy offers a tuition-free academic option for students who seek alternatives to a traditional brick-and-mortar education. The high school program offered at MEVA includes core, elective and Honors courses with varying levels of rigor to allow students to enjoy a high school program tailored to their goals and abilities.
